A French Lesson: Five rules for wearing head-to-toe white
The French approach to wearing white head-to-toe has nothing to do with caution. It is, in fact, the opposite.
Five lessons, simply put.
- Vary the weight.
Linen against cotton against a heavier canvas — the whites don't need to match, they need to coexist. - Let one thing be imperfect.
A loose tuck, a slightly different shade of ivory, an untucked hem. Total precision reads as costume. - The accessories decide everything.
Silver jewellery, woven leather, bare skin. Or conversely, one dark anchor like statement sunglasses. - White isn't neutral, it's a mood.
It requires confidence to carry. This is a choice, not a default. - Occasion is irrelevant.
White linen at dinner and white cotton at the market are the same philosophy, just different fabrics.
